The book of Genesis begins with the glorious account of God’s creation. At the end of creation, we read in Genesis 1:31, “And God saw everything that He had made, and, behold, it was very good”.
However, just a couple of chapters, we see that the creation is corrupted because of the sins of Adam and Eve. When Adam first fell into sin, the Lord came looking for him, Genesis 3: 9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? … and we read in Revelation 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me”.
From Genesis to Revelation, we see God as taking the initiative in seeking sinners and believers who have gone astray. His desire is to restore the blessings lost in the garden of Eden. God’s seven fold response to sin gives a unique, perfect and eternal solution to the problem of human sin.
God Forgives our sins
Luke 7: 48 “And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven”. We were all born as sinners. Psalms 51:5 – “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me”.
God has Fully Paid for our sins
Peter 1: 18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot”.
God has Forgotten our sins
Jeremiah 31:34 for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
God has Cleansed our sins and made us new
Isaiah 1:18 “Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool”. II Corinthians 5: 17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new”. Ezekial 36: A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh”.
God provides continuous Forgiveness
Romans 5:20 “But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:” “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us” (I John 1:9).
God provides Power to overcome temptations that could lead to sins
Psalms 119:11, “Thy word have I hid in my heart that I may not sin against thee” “1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God [is] faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear [it]” Romans 6:6 “Knowing that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin”.
God's Promise of a sinless future
Revelation 21:1-4 “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: … 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away”.
